Laser Cutting Memento

Product Design
Project Overview
The goal of this project is to prototype a memento of a significant place using the Inkscape software. Through several iterations, the final product would be developed by laser cutting through thick plywood.

      Design Process

      Sketches
      01
To decide what type of design I wanted to create, I sketched out ten possible ideas. Through different drafts, I settled on the idea I wanted to generate and created my final sketch with some dimensions and logistical aspects of the design.
      Design
      02
To bring the design to life, I constructed my sketch on Inkscape. I created a prototype with each of the different parts necessary, making sure the measurements all aligned.
      Print & Assemble
      03
Once my final Inkscape design was completed, I took it to a laser cutter to print and cut out of plywood. Based on how it printed, I revised and iterated my designs to ensure the calculations and design aspects were correct. In the end I was left with a product that fit together perfectly.
